The music video i have looked at is Time is running out by Muse. I have analysed their music video in relation to three concepts: Genre, Narrative and media language. The genre of the video is alternative rock, in terms of their setting and location it can give clues to the type of genre they are trying to portray. For example they are in the middle of a conference table with a drum kit, microphone stand and a guitar. This is a representation of their genre.
In this particular music video the narrative structure is non-linear because they seem to remain stagnant and their is change. Also while analysing this music video there seems to be no disruption or equilibrium, the artist/group are participant in the narrative.
The lyrics link to the narrative of amplification. This is because when the chorus is sung and the words "time is running out" has been sung they show a clip of people running/walking really fast around the conference table.
When analysing the music video i looked at the media language. I looked at how the video was edited. The video has been edited in a way that shows different shots of the band doing the same thing but from many different angles.
I also believe that the editing of the music video is conventional to this genre because it is similar to many other music videos of the same sort of genre.
