Research: Analysis of previous A2 music videos
Emre, Fouzia, Kashmir & Solone from Vimeo.
This video I have chosen because It relates to what Andrew Goodwin theory, but at the same time it doesn't. For example he thinks that "Pop videos are mainly 3 minutes long and rely on a lot of repetition in their videos; it builds to a climax before fading away". which is exactly what applies in the music video above, also he feels that women are treated as sex objects in pop videos which is exactly what happens in the video with the women dancing. where as another one of his points you can argue is that "narrative analysis don’t happen regularly in pop videos" in which is not the case in this music video because there is a narrative story to this video about a night out partying with your friends.
Furthermore I feel that there are both main strengths and weaknesses in this music video. Firstly the strengths of this video is that there is a narrative story to it and there is allot of dancing and good quick cut edits to the beats to add effect. Where as the weakness to the video is the fact that there is allot of repetition though out the video in addition to the poor lighting effect to the video in which you can hardly see the singer and extras nearly though the whole music video.
