Analysis of 3 Digipaks

This is Michael Jacksons ‘This is it’ album digipak. Although it does not fit in with the genre for our music video, I think this is a very strong digipak. The target audience is mainly focused on Michael Jackson’s fans as there is a clear outline of Michael Jacksons figure on the digipak which has different images inside it. The bright colours used suggest the album having lively music. I will look into the idea colours and images that will best suit to my genre and try to give a little bit of taste about what the album will contain.

The reason why I have chosen this digipak of Madonna’s for her album called ‘The confessions Tour’ is because it is very similar to the genre of our music video.  This digipak is a great sample to look at as the pop artist is a single female.  The digipak is covered in black which contrasts with the Pink Glowy font used for the artist name whereas the album name is written in a different fancy font type in white. This may be one thing I may look into while producing my digipak as it has worked very effectively and is very attractive. There is only one image of the artist which is a close up of her face showing expression.  The back of the digipak contains an image of a disco ball which refers to partying. This gives the audience a bit of hint about what to expect in the album. The fonts and sizes used for the song titles are different compared to the artist and album name. This digipak is very clear and attractive which is something I intend to do in my digipak.

This digipak of Kate Nash’s Made of Bricks album is also very similar to our genre. This is another great sample to look at as it is targeted at young female audience. You can clearly identify this by the Front cover of the digipak as it contains nice summery flowers in a garden with the artist in a red summery dress skipping on a path towards a house placed in the centre of the cover. This contrasts with the background colour which is a dark blue/navy. Something similar to this may work well for my digipak. A simple font is used through out the whole digipak apart from the spine although the colours are same. The white writing on a dark blue background has worked effectively as it is clear to read. This may be another thing I may look into while producing my digipak.
